Hi Guys

i opened

what is the difference between spots and performances?

Spots is the number of times the cut played.
Performances is the number of folks who were listening when it played.

For example:
Kingston Trio A Worried Man...1 2
Played once, there were two people listening at the time.

Carpenters It's Going to Take Some Time...12 26
A total of 26 people were "tuned in" during the 12 times the song played.

Sort by title and you'll see the relationship.

If you do an Airplay Report on a particular song, the Listeners count should match Performances from the Grouped Detail Report for the same period.

I tried using that too. Grouped Detail, Normal Songs, descending and I got this error message "status=err
SQL error=Invalid use of group function"

It happened when I tried to use html or csv.

I'm using the latest version of SAM v4.3.6.

I tried all the combinations and had no problem. Try repairing the database.

If that doesn't fix it you might want to put in a ticket.

If you're using MySQL...

From DOS prompt:

net stop mysql [ENTER]

c:/mysql/bin/myisamchk -r -f c:/mysql/data/samdb/*.myi [ENTER]

net start mysql [ENTER]

I'm a MySQL guy, so you might try searching the forums if you're using another database.
MySQL has the most support in the forums, btw.

I'm using MySQL 4.1 server. Though I don't understand it that well. I just know it keeps the database working. Can the repair be done from the command prompt?

There is also a MySQL Administrator program you can get for free from the MySQL download website. It' has some automated tasks including database repair/optimization. Saves you from having to repair the database via a DOS Prompt.

Thank you WDA1. This is going to sound funny but it's been so long since I've used DOS that I can't remember how. Thank you for the link. Which version of the program would you recommend downloaidng? I saw there are four.

That's what I thought Elevatorboy meant but I wasn't sure. In the event that doesn't work, which one of the administrator programs should I use?

Thank you they are grabbed. Should I install the tools before trying it from the command prompt? Just as a safe measure?

Well I did open a ticket with Spacial Audio and they have told me 'not' to have any programs on my Sam machine that could modify files like AVG, Norton because that's likely what's happened since I can't get the following reports to work. Btw, I didn't have a anti-virus program installed when this problem happened.

Tools / Reports
Grouped Detail
Sort by / Spots
Sort by / Performances

Tools / Reports
APRA Report
Sort by / Spots
Sort by / Performances

Tools / Reports
BMI Report
Sort by / Counts
Sort by / Performances

I can't get the ASCAP report to work at all.

I did install the MySQL tools but it asks for a localhost, username, password and a stored connection. Now I don't know if the localhost is my IP and but I'm guessing the username and password is the ones I have for Sam. I have no clue what the stored connection is. I was using the Sam demo version for some months. That's what I would put each new Registration Key into. Spacial Audio support asked for me to look for a document called dconfig.xml in the sub folder htdocs. So I looked for it and this is what I found.

<?/*
<CONFIG application="SAM" version="4.3.2">
<Database>
<Driver>MYSQL</Driver>
<Host>localhost</Host>
<Port>3306</Port>
<Database>SAMDB</Database>
<Username>********</Username>
<Password>***********</Password>
</Database>
</CONFIG>

*/?>

I sent that to SA support and they told me that it should not read that. So I downloaded sambc-up.exe and installed it over the Sam demo that I'd been using for some months now and there has been no change to the dbconfig.xml document. It still says the same thing version="4.3.2">
