We just updated to a new computer without a classic PCI slot, so our old M-Audio Audiophile 192 soundcard won't work anymore. I just picked up a Creative Audigy FX soundcard to get us through, but I'm looking for an upgrade. Wondering if anyone has any soundcard recommendations?

Depends on what you will use the soundcard for.
Consumer soundcards are perfectly fine if it's just about audio playback or if you only need a single analog stereo input.
If you have higher requirements, especially in terms of AD/DA conversion and/or need more/exotic connectors, you should look for professional audio equipment.
Though I only know 2 remaining companies that still build professional soundcards.
You already mentioned the first one, M-Audio and the other one is E-MU (subsidiary of Creative)

With our station, everything goes through a mixer then into the computer. So the biggie is a good quiet A/D conversion.

Does anyone have any recommendation for a particular model?
