I'm downloading and re-installING Sam DJ Version: 2016.9 from within the user zone on a New Win 10 Desktop, old desktop died.

Once installed, I click to open SAM DJ I'm getting Error Message "This PRE-RELEASE application has expired".

Please advise on how to install & activate my software key.

Thank You!

Try going one version back. This seems to be an already expired beta version you're trying to install.

Same thing happened to me. Bought Sam DJ Pro 2017.3 installed ok but later changed my old PC to a new one. Tried to install and activate same software by downloading from user zone. Was met with same message "This PRE-RELEASE application has expired". Uninstalled and re-installed several times, even escalated issue to help center but no luck. I really feel cheated because never expected Spacial Audio to be deceptive in their advertising. On closer look at my user zone software details: "subscription expiry" is 2017-04-01 while "key expiry" is "never". My thoughts: this is not a subscription service so its not expected to expire, why then force an expiry on a non-subscription software? I guess Spacial Audio just wants users to keep buying their software by way of forced upgrades. Too bad.

Nah, key expiry means: You are allowed to use whatever version you bought forever without ever having to pay again.
They're doing really great on that front and provide old binaries going back as far as 10 years right now.

The update model has changed in 2012. Back then you got new updates for free until a new major version was released with significant changes.
That model was clearly unprofitable as there are no more major changes and defining what is a major change is always really hard to do in a way that everyone agrees.

Therefore as of 2012, you get updates for 1 year included with the license and can buy additional updates at a reduced price (IIRC 99$/yr).

That is however unrelated to the message about a PRE-RELEASE version having expired.
Version numbers with letters in it are usually test builds released only to a select few people to check if a problem could be resolved or to test new features before releasing them to the general public in a stable version shortly after.
Beta / Alpha versions usually expire a month or two after they were initially published, no matter if your license is valid for that version or not.

Well, I guess it leaves me with no other option then. Seeing that I paid legitimately for my copy of Sam DJ I will explore every means to make it work.
