Hi,

Our station is running SAM Broadcaster 4.2.2.

When archiving shows with the stream recorder, I would like to be able to have the recorder name the archived mp3 to the Artist/Title ID3 of the deck that I am archiving.

I currently use :
Code:
Archive-%.mm-dd-yyyy.HH.nn.ss%.mp3

for the file naming schema on the stream-to-disk encoder, but I have to go back and cross reference everything by date when the archives start piling up.

Ideally I would at least like to include the title and artist variables in the filename.

Could someone tell me where I could find all possible naming variables for use in this context?

Also, would the $combine$ $title$ ,etc vars work in this case?

I have searched extensively within these forums and the SAM help file, but nothing really hits the spot in this instance.

Thank You.

Although I do not use this feature nor know much about it, it looks like the date format value is the only thing available for change.

Have you tried using the encoder style variables?

Well, I am really itching to try them out, but I wouldn't want to hose any dj's live recording archive if they didn't parse properly.

I suppose I could test them myself at 4am or something though.

I just wish I knew where to find a definitive list of them.

Thanks for your reply.

Done.

They said that there is no way to do it, currently in SAM, but that they will add it to the feature request list, for the next release.

Bump,

We are now running SAM Broadcaster v4.3.6.

It still appears that there is no way of naming the filenames that the encoder generates, using some type of $artist$ or %artist% variable.

Is there something that I am overlooking, or did this feature just not make it into the upgrade?

Thanks.

The "next release" to which they refer is most likely at least SAM5.
