After support wiping out and reloading SAM 4.7 last week it looks like Firebird can't handle a 2500 song library without "stuttering."

Before Support closed down this afternoon the instruction was to go to myslq. I'm clueless even after reading the info. Do I uninstall SAM, again, to do this?

Is myslq an easy download or is it a more complicated Torrent type thing which I usually miss on how to convert and install?

Should I delete SAM before installing myslq?

Do I delete firebird also?

MySQL really is the preferred database with most SAM users. Firebird has never been that stable.

Uninstall SAM completely. Even make sure the SpacialAudio folders are deleted. Uninstall Firebird COMPLETELY. Make sure there are NO traces of it, period.

Download & Install MySQL here: http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/

I believe if you SEARCH you can find both here on the forum and in youTube some links to YouTube videos that walk you thru the setup of MySQL for SAM.

Once MySQL is installed, REINSTALL SAM, making sure in the install process you choose the option for a database other than Firebird.

Thanks Andrew, I hope this turns out like it should--my expertise is not in computers or engineering.

Then I'm sure you know someone that might know a bit more about computers... I'd try contacting them for some one-on-one assistance.

If mySQL was installed on my F drive because it has tons of free space, should SAM also be installed on the F drive also?

It doesn't matter which drive MySQL is on as long as it's a local drive.... same for SAM.

Wow, got it accomplished by working into the night all this morning/afternoon. Thanks for your help, did it with myself and following the advice here.
