Not sure about the US AOL, but their german daughter company (AOL Deutschland) was known to cause more harm than doing any good with their dialup software in the 90s and early 2000s.

Also I'm not sure how Internet access in the US works these days, but with ADSL and cable and even FTT(H/C) (Fibre to the Home/Fibre to the Curb) internet, there should be no need to have any ISP-specific software on the computer. At least here in europe 99.999% of the time internet access is handled by a NAT Router.

Just to let you know that the problem is now fixed & it had nothing to do with AOL. It was in fact "Norton" After removing "Norton" completely from the computer Sam immediately started to run again without problems.Although Sam was running with Norton for a while I think the recent Norton updates caused this. Anyway Sam seems to be running better than ever now, even the mic sounds better & doesn't cut out like it used to. (All we did was remove "Norton")
Thank you all for your replies.

IMO, Nortons is a "POS" antivirus program.. Has been for many years. It causes alot of problems (For most people, not everyone), and "sometimes" when you remove it, It takes out windows files or files for other programs along with it.

Now not all "freebie" anti-virus's are the best in the world, but theres a couple out there, that run pretty good. Avast is a good one to mention.

I have a similar problem. Up to today everything was fine, but now SAM Broadcaster began shutting down. No crash, just splash screen with 'Unloading SAM'. I'm using SAM Broadcaster v. 2013.2, my system is Windows 8, antivirus - Avast. Problems began when I installed SAM Broadcaster v. 2013.4, later I downgraded it to 2013.2 I had before but problems still occur.

Too late... :P I had to solve this problem very quickly because it interrupted audition I was broadcasting at that moment. So I solved problems by removing and reinstalling SAM Broadcaster v. 2013.2, now everything works fine.

I'll try installing 2013.4 to see if this problem is related with this particular version or it is rather result of installing 2013.4 without removing 2013.2 before.
