I signed up for SAM Pro trial and I set the database to Firebird. It was suggested to me to use mySQL instead of Firebird so I uninstalled it and installed mySQL and couldnot run SAM Pro any longer because it was looking for Firebird so I uninstalled SAM Pro and that is where things got messy; I don't recall the trial reg number and I cannot run SAM now. What should I do? Thank you for your help.

Your Serial number is available in the clients area.
The trial version works for a certain amount of time and I'm not sure what happens when you uninstall and reinstall the software.
The correct way to switch from Firebird to MySQL as the database system is by using the Reconfigure shortcut / commandline switch instead of reinstalling SAM as a whole.

Nothing. You just run the Shortcut labeled "reconfigure" from SAM's start menu folder.

Thank you, I found my access code and told SAM to use mySQL but I get an error that says, "unable to connect to database. Please make sure the database server is properly installed and running. Also make sure your database login details are correct" What that mean in english?

Is MySQL installed and running? Are the connection details entered correctly? (i.e. if MySQL is installed on your webserver and you told SAM to look at localhost for MySQL, that's not gonna work)

to check if MySQL is running

type in services into the run/search box on your pc via the start menu

the service window will come up.

on the left hand side select Services(Local)

now in the window on the right hand side browse the list until you locate MySQL.

If you cant locate MySQL in that list you need to verify that you have installed MySQL separately from SAM install.

If it is there the startup type should be automatic and the status should say started.

the status does not say started but does say automatic. What is this webserver thing. Do I need to run my own or do I need to pay a server for bandwidth?

You don't need one at all. This was just an example for a situation where the default connection parameters (localhost and port 3306) will not work.

That's not the status, but the start type (or similar, translated freely from german)
If you just installed MySQL, it might be that it was not started yet for an unknown reason. You can either start the service by hand (right click the entry and hit start) or simply reboot the computer (start type automatic means it will automatically start with windows)

I don't know if this matters but when I start the MySQL service it doesn't stay started but shuts itself off.
