Pressing config button results in unhandled exception. Can't access configuration tools at all.

Any fixes? Reinstall?

Windows 10, SAM 2017.3 (running as test, haven't purchased yet).

Running SAM2017.3 for almost a month on Win 7 without that issue. I have SAM installed in the root of C:\ and not under program files.

Maybe a corrupted Config XML file?
Search for Data Path in your Windows Programs Menu or (if you're still on XP, 2000, Me, 98, 95 etc. look for the SAM Broadcaster Group and there select Data Path.
In there you should have a SAMBC.core.xml (if you didn't disable "Hide Extension for known file types" in windows, look for SAMBC.core with an Internet Explorer Icon, the .xml file extension is hidden then)
Rename that file for starters (to what you rename it is up to you) and you'll be asked to do the setup again next time you start SAM.
This doesn't affect your song library and categories setup at all, but all the config menu configuration is gone that way.

If that doesn't fix it, try the Reconfigure shortcut of SAM (This will inevitably delete the config file with no chance to rescue any of it, but is otherwise identical to renaming the file in that you have to redo the base setup of SAM).

If that doesn't help either, check the EventLog.log file in the "Data Path" folder (Again, if the Extension hiding insecurity feature of windows isn't turned off, it might be named just EventLog, but you should be able to open it in any kind of text editor including Notepad)
This might or might not report any useful error message. If in doubt, copy paste the contents to the forums and we'll have a look trying to help. (no guarantee, this might still be a programming error where you're left with the helpdesk or waiting for an update. Impossible to know with the information you gave us so far)

OK, found and renamed the core XML file. Restarted SAM and it generated a new core.xml and everything seems to be there as I left it before.

Not sure why that worked but it did.

If anything changes, I will post here.

Most likely the "old" XML file was corrupted. This can happen due to an improper shutdown or other race conditions. (It shouldn't happen and is far from "normal", but apparently you maneuvered yourself into this very rare situation.

I am having similar problem since upgrading to v2018.9

Whenever I click on the Event Scheduler to edit an entry, I get the following error:
[CORE] Unhandled exception (Access violation at address 004E10A0 in module 'SAMBC.exe'. Read of address 00000004)

It has also stuffed up my Desktop settings in the App, so none of the configurations for the widgets are as I set them.

I have tried the above suggestion to renaming the SAMBC.core.xml and restarting, to no avail.

May I request assistance, please?

I can confirm this behavior as well. Please report the issue to Spacial the more reports the faster it will get resolved.

FYI. Rollback to v2018.8 until further notice is the advice support has given.

I'm having the same issue as well on Sam 2018.9. Recurring events will be removed from the Event Schedule. From there on you can not add or delete events.

I did a sample test to run a pal script using recurring event and this is my error log.

Code:
N 2018-11-24 10:12:30 [Scheduler] Executing event: simple
N 2018-11-24 10:12:30 [Scheduler] PAL script started: C:\Users\MLachney\AppData\Local\SpacialAudio\SAMBC\PAL\SimpleClockWheel.pal
X 2018-11-24 10:12:30 [HeartBeat] Unexpected recurring date: No future match found?!
X 2018-11-24 10:12:52 [CORE] Unhandled exception (Access violation at address 004E10A0 in module 'SAMBC.exe'. Read of address 00000004)
X 2018-11-24 10:12:53 [CORE] Unhandled exception (Access violation at address 004E10A0 in module 'SAMBC.exe'. Read of address 00000004)
X 2018-11-24 10:13:48 [CORE] Unhandled exception (Unexpected recurring date: No future match found?!)

Actually new events are added to the event table and the event time table however they do not appear in the ES Window in SAM. They will fire off when the time for the event happens, you just can't see the entry unless you query the table.
