Save yourself hours of aggravation and switch to mysql, at least you can repair a broken database.

Are you saying the database is on a remote server but SAM itself is on a local computer?

Again, there is no need to reload a backup (generally) using mysql, it can be repaired

So are you using FireBird or mySQL ? It looks like you are using FireBird.

Repairing a FireBird DataBase is almost impossible for a beginner to do. You should be using mySQL, which is much better than FireBird.

Use MySQL Workbench. There are tutorials on YouTube on how to use it.

MyISAM Databases can be repaird using myisamchk commandline tool which operates on the database files even if the database server itself is completely gone.
There's a quick walkthrough in the FAQ how to use that tool.
Two thing to pay attention to: The version numbers have most likely changed and you need to find the right path to the MySQL executeables for your system.
The other thing is the Alias names for the MySQL service. I don't really know if MySQL still registers the short names for their services. You might need to disable the service using the Windows management engine GUI. (Right-Click computer -> select manage -> look for services -> find all mysql related stuff in the list and stop before running myisamchk and run it again after you're finished)

InnoDB databases shouldn't really run into these kinds of problems. They just revert to an old stable state at the next start of MySQL / your computer.

I'd opt for using MySQL Workbench whenever possible for users not familiar with the commandline anymore (If you were around before WinXP, you might at least have seen the commandline a few times already and know that you have to be careful to enter the exact words and properly quote stuff with spaces)
