So MySQL on localhost, User: root, password: root, database: foodb?
Or root without password and database foodb?

You seem to have given the DB a name fonodb
So maybe in SAM you need to replace ROOT to fonodb and then enter your password.
I switched over to MariaDB......same as MYSQL. MARIA is very simple to setup. I kept ROOT for the db name. I don't want to get complicated with this technology.
You're gonna loose all of your clockwheels and events, and categories, station IDs etc etc. But it's worth it to get "a DB for adults"
