I've cleaned up my playlist in SAM... I had about 1,000 tracks in my original playlist, but now I have about 400 that I want to keep, but my database still says I have 1,000. How do I clear these old tracks out of the database? I've removed all of the tracks out of the playlist and re-added the 400 or so already but that didn't seem to work.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I know this seems like a fairly trivial question, but I would sincerely love to hear from someone with an issue like this. Thanks!

If you need quick support, please contact the Spacial Helpdesk. They're getting paid to provide support during business hours.

Otherwise, please acknowledge that the forum is staffed by volunteers only and we don't usually check the forums every other hour, but more like every few days.

Back to topic:
Did you remove the tracks from your playlist only or did you "remove from all"?
Anything you add to a Playlist is automatically added to the "global" library as well (as a type S track by default).
So even if you remove the track from a playlist category it will still stick around in the Music (All) or other ...(All) categories depending on the songtype.

Try running Tools>>Maintenance>>Verify Songs to see if the tracks you don't wan't get removed. Just realize if SAM can find them in their original folder then they will not get removed. The only other way would be to actually run a delete query on the database for those tracks.

Thanks everyone, this has been resolved. I figured out what my problem was. I was using an older SAM database and it kept all of the old database entries. As soon as I created a new database and directed SAM to use it, it worked fine.
