Since I updated to Windows 11 Pro my Sam Broadcaster Pro (2021.5) crashes every couple of days. The GUI disappears completely but in the task manager SAMBC.exe (32 bit) is still running. To restart Sam Broadcaster I have to kill that process and restart it. I use Stereo Tool 9.63 as the only plug-in.

I had this problem after I updated from Window 10 but also after I decided to do a complete reinstall of Windows 11. My computer is an Intel NUC NUC8i7BEH. On Windows 10 there was no issue at all.

I reinstalled Sam Broadcaster but restored the folder c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SpacialAudio\SAMBC\ from my old installation. My database is a MariaDB 10.3.29-1038 which runs on my Synology NAS (DS920+).

I contacted support and they advised me to do a complete reinstall of Sam Broadcaster (including the database), reconfigure the software and add my music but that's the last thing I want, that's a massive amount of work since I don't have the same folder structure in Sam and on my NAS.

More people here who experience this?

I'm having the exact same issue. After installing Windows 11, Sam Broadcaster stops about once per day. I've been told by support to re-install Sam. I'm very hesitate to do that. (1) Because I'm not sure that will solve the problem and (2) I was not told what the problem is. So why go through the huge task of re-programming and reloading Sam when Spacial has not addressed the issue or offered a guaranteed solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good to hear that I'm not the only one with this issue. I think more people are facing or will face (when they move to Windows 11) this problem. I hope a solution will be available soon. But I have to say my Sam is already running a week now without this problem.

Edit: Happened again today 28-11-2021

I still use Sam Pro 15.5 with mysql database.

Since updating to windows 11, I am finding Sam closes itself down for no obvious reason. Has anyone else experienced this?

I cannot find a pattern. It could play for days without issue, then it simply shuts down. I don't mean freeze, it actually closes itself down.

Any suggestions on where to start to address this issue?

you won't have to re-do everything

Explain please...

This is what Spacial support requested me to do (and that is re-do everything if you ask me...):

Quote:
I would recommend uninstalling both Firebird and SAM Broadcaster Pro from the Programs and Features applet in the Control Panel. Then download and install the software which is available to you from the Products tab within your user zone at http://userzone.spacial.com. When installing this, please alter the installation path, for example:

Instead of installing in to C:\Program Files (x86)\SpacialAudio\SAMBC

Consider a small change to ensure a different location is used, C:\Program Files (x86)\SpacialAudio\SAMBC1

This will require you to reconfigure the software and add your music however, this should resolve the issue.

I agree and conclude that SAM crashes after 1 or 2 days. This is recurring since upgraded to Windows 11. Hope SAM can release some sort of patch to fix the issues

I really hope so. I feel as no one cares or is addressing this problem. It's been happening to me for about 6 weeks and Spacial has no solution.

I had contact with Spacial, and (of course) this was a problem at my side: I needed to reinstall everything, than it was a problem with my database (although checked, scanned and verified and no issues showing), than it was my network because my database runs on my Nas and that was not supported. Never had any problems with that setup before Windows 11....

But finally they confessed that there are still minor reported issues which are still under investigation and that Windows 11 is not advertised as being compatible (which is true).

I had the feeling they wanted to use me as their test subject to find out what the problem is, I refused.

I am back to Windows 10, and running now for almost a week again without any problem (I used the backup I made under Windows 11).

We are aware of an issue affecting some customers who have upgraded to Windows 11. We have been unable to replicate this issue so far and would ask that anyone affected, confirm the brand of computer they are using as well as the database installed. We are looking for commonality at this stage and any assistance affected customers can provide would be appreciated.

Hi Mathew
Its me here in the response and I believe you are currently attending my issue. Please note since your last connection to my computer Sam crashes two to three times a day and as a result I reverted back to fresh copy of Windows 10 and Maria DB database 10.06. After running the SAM for almost 4 hrs, SAM crashed again. Very odd if this cant be replicated at your end. Hopefully this additional information may help the developers with their investigation.

Just an update from Spacial support team today. Bit disappointed.

This is in the hands of the Development Team and will be addressed with a future release.
Your request has been deemed solved. To reopen your request, please reply to this ticket.
