ok, I did some reading and came up with the answer. I'm posting to prevent replys and maybe help someone else in the future. If you set the compression ratio on sam to 1:1 no matter what the thereshold, attack, or release settings are there will be no compression. The other funcations like limiting and stereo expansion remain funcational. now I can use my hardware compressor for it's designed purpose ;-)

You could also click the 'Enable' button on the compressor and just disable it for LF/HF
