Hello everyone,
Well, i am using SAM for over 3 years but never got into PAL stuff... I am willing to make for me and my colleagues something automatic using PAL or Event Scheduler, so that i can announce the top time like "is 10:00 o'clock", is "11:00 o'clock" and so on, using pre-recorded files for each sharp hour .
The question is:
How can i do that? So that everytime when is "xx:00" sharp to play automatically the file assigned to that hour, without making 24 (one script for each hour) separate scripts.... And if is not possible, how can i tell the exact hour to play that specific file? Sorry for my english, but im romanian actually... Hope you got my point. And thanks for taking time to read this...

The easiest method would be to add 12 EVENTS to the EVENT SCHEDULER. Each event would be used twice per day, loading the proper file to the TOP of the queue.

In the EVENT SCHEDULER window, click the green + to add an event. Choose "Add file to queue." Then click [+ File] to add the file for "its 12 o'clock." Then in the SCHEDULED TIMES tab, add the time for 12:00am as well as 12:00pm. Then choose to execute EVERY DAY. Repeat this for the other files.

Is this going to play the file automatically on time, or will just add it into the queue playing it after the previous song is finished? Im looking for something to automatically play the files on time.

Do you want this to play exactly at the top of the hour?
If so, how do you want it handled if a song is playing still at XX:00?
Can SAM playing it over top of the song?
Do you want SAM to fade out the song, play the TIME, then start the next song?

Yes i want it to play right at "xx:00", fading out the song right at the top of the hour, no matter what, and after that to play the next song in queue.

Easy.
Use the EVENT SCHEUDLER to load them into the TOP of the queue shortly before they need to play.
Use the event scheduler to also send the 'ActivePlayer.FadeToNext' command about a second or two before you want it to play. SAM will fade out whatever is playing, and play the next item in queue.

How exactly? Using the clockwheel or PAL? For instance i have a file called 12sharp.mp3 in "Promos" folder, for 12:00. How do i write the command in Event Scheduler?

Here's how it's done in more detail, in two parts.
FIRST, create 12 EVENTS, one for each file to play twice: * In the EVENT SCHEDULER window, click the + to add an event * Choose 'Add file to queue' * At the right, click the [-CLEAR] * At the top of this, give it a name (let's call it '12 o'clock') * Click [+ FILE] and navigate to where the the file is and add it. * Now, in the box at the right where you added the file, change the 'ipBottom' to 'ipTop', this tells SAM to add the file at the TOP of the queue instead of the BOTTOM. * Now click on the SCHEDULED TIMES tab, and select a time to add the file. Choose 'Execute every' and then select DAY, and enter a time. I'd add this file maybe ten seconds before it plays. (So the 12:00 file should be added at 11:59:50am, then click [+ADD], be sure to also add one for 11:59:50pm.) * Click [OK] * Repeat these steps for the other remaining 11 files, each playing twice, once in AM and once in PM.
LASTLY You need to create ONE event to trigger this EACH hour * In the EVENT SCHEDULER window, click the + to add an event * Choose 'Add file to queue' * At the right, click the [-CLEAR] * At the top of this, give it a name (let's call it TOP OF HOUR) * In the box at the right, just type in the following: ActivePlayer.FadeToNext * Now click on the SCHEDULED TIMES tab, and select a time to add the file. Choose 'Execute every' and then select DAY, and enter a time. (For 12 o'clock, enter 11:59:59am, click [+ADD] and repeat for 11:59:59pm, and the 22 other times during the day.) * Click [OK]
This is just one of two ways to do this, as it could also be done by a PAL script, but as I personally don't care for PAL scripts, I use the EVENT SCHEDULER.

@andres3190:
This thread said nothing about using a PAL.
