I am trying to stream to an online Icecast server. The mount point for the server is "/live". The problem is that SAM automatically enters "/live.ogg" for Icecast in it's server configuration box. I tried to change "/live.ogg" to "/live" but it just goes back to "/live.ogg".

I can't change the mount point on the online server, so is there a way, via PAL, to change the mountpoint on SAM?

Thanks,
Bennie

You cannot configure you encoder via a PAL script.

If not by a PAL script, is there any way to change the default "/live.ogg" to "/live" ?

Check with your server host. I believe that is supposed to be /live.ogg. That is why SAM does that by default.

I'm also having the same problem. Is there any way to get SAM to stop appending ".ogg" onto the mount point?

Here's a quick video to illustrate what I'm talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ORUIpQ9_no

SAM auto-appends the Mountpoint field with ".ogg" no matter what I put before it. I could set it to /blargh, hit OK, and when I reload the encoder config it shows up as "/blargh.ogg"

My host, ShoutCheap, uses Centova, and they require me to use "/live" without ".ogg" after it, otherwise it breaks things. I wouldn't call it a "bug" because that's apparently how the programmers coded it, but I need more flexibility in order to be compatible with the hosting provider. Is there any way to get SAM to stop doing this?

I've already talked to my hosting provider and they want me to switch to MP3 because of it. I told them, hey, your front page says I can use OGG, so I want to use OGG. It's more efficient, open source, not to mention it's native to IceCast.

The other reason I pick Icecast is we're streaming at 64kbps variable bit rate so that the sound can be at least semi-decent. MP3 doesn't allow for that, so I'm not using it. I know there are Variable MP3 bitrates allowed for encoding music files, but apparently that option isn't available in SAM for streaming encoders.
