Here is the update ... FOX news changed from http:// to https://

So, you must have SAM Broadcaster Pro version 2017.8 (or later) for the new script to work.

The script will be available February 1st.

The latest version of SAM is 2020.1, so hopefully people waiting for the script will have version 2017.8 or later. If you version is earlier than 2017.8, you are out of luck. Time to upgrade, I guess.

Guess I’m out of luck then, as I’ve had the Plus version for several years, and with the troubles I’ve had before, I don’t want anymore headaches, now that this particular setup has been working well for quite some time now...
Geez...

For those not wanting to give money to Spacial: You can run this through a reverse proxy that strips the HTTPS/SSL/TLS encryption from the webpage.

That's a lot more effort, though. If you had someone set this up for you, it'd take about 2 hours of worktime and at that point you're very close to renewing your license with Spacial...

After all that work, it turns out that 95% of our customers are using a copy of SAM which is older than the 2017.8 version.

Actually I was a tad shocked. We did warn everybody that the new news script uses HTTPS instead of HTTP, so it won't work with older SAM versions.

I'm not the least bit surprised by that. If I had to guess, I'd say there's at least a 30% share of the global SAM userbase running the infamous cracked and virus-laden 4.2.2 version of SAM. Then a big chunk of users are legitimate users of the 4.9.8 or other versions in the 4.x series that just didn't bother to update. People running the current version of SAM are either subscribed to their Hosting offers (cheapeststream, SpacialNet and SAM Cloud) or just very new to the streaming business. I'd doubt the number of people running a SAM version newer than 5 years to be more than 25%.
