MPEG-4 Part 14 decoding is an oft-requested feature. Quite a few folks are hoping it'll be in SAM5 (I'm personally hoping for FLAC or some other lossless format than Windows Media).

With dropping hard disk prices FLAC becomes more and more interesting. But in the end I hope it won't be an either or descision and mpeg4 AND flac make their way into SAM5

While the FLAC would be useful and all -- is there any indication if the M4A format will be put in at all (after all, that's not the encrypted/protected version, just the normal) -- and if so, when?
Sadly, right now that's the #1 reason I haven't bought the program yet (I have an ipod -- 75% of my songs are in that format).

At this point there are no indications on ANYTHING except the rumors that SAM5 will be a complete re-write of the ENTIRE software package for SAM Broadcaster. We're all keeping fingers cross for some sort of details soon.

I would like M4A to be supported in SAM4. Why wait for SAM5? I was hopping I didn't need to ask for this support, that it would be out already. Although, here I am wondering why it hasn't happened yet.
Yeah it's pretty sad that Spacial Audio has always tried to be on the cutting edge of the Broadcasting community with their SAM product.
Yet here we are like 2 years since the first requests/indication of AAC+v2 becoming popular especially (Winamp had an AAC+v2 encoder along with the decoder fairly fast)... if Winamp can still afford the licensing for their free/paid Winamp which costs significantly less than SAM then I don't see what the problem is. Also since iTunes now rips directly from CD's easily into this format and it has superior quality I don't see what the hold up is.
Yet we are still waiting with only "rumours" that it "may" be incorporated into SAM5 and there is no ETA or due date for the SAM5 release.
