Then, current SAM version with minimal cosmetic changes is perfect for your requirements (but not mine). I expect a better SAM with real world features. I don't understand why do you expect SAM 5 if you are confortable with current SAM features and price.

Beat match crossfade and related, who does need it?

I know several stations that use this. Have personally had hand in assisting them in setting it up.

Because yes, there are still plenty of things I'd like to see in SAM. For MY use at least, I'd like to see a third playback deck in the main playback chain (ie: DECK C.) This would allow the use of really short IDs/stingers in between songs. Presently SAM cannot play these and still unload the old song and load a new one quick enough.
As has been mentioned above, some of the feature requests you ask for could seriously put a strain on the cost of SAM to implement. If you seem to think that they can be done and STILL make SAM as inexpensive as it is, then FEEL FREE to pass your solutions and not just idle solutions on to the development team.

I vote for this, too.

Let's allow SAM team to decide about the features and cost of their products. I don't need to pass anybody my solutions to request a better product.

Certainly. Suit yourself. I've spent nearly 30 years in this industry, and have worked on and with nearly every automation system out there, and I have a working knowledge of what these systems cost, along with their features. If many of these features were cost effective to SAM, they'd already be part of the package.

Auto DJ & clock wheels are all fine and dandy. But much of my programing relies on hand built playlists (for sets with sensible segues and rhythmic transitions)

A very simple fix and handy addition would be for SAM to display the current playlist in the Queue titlebar. ...pretty please!

Don't know about the "simple" aspect but indeed could be useful; as long as the queue is not affected by other external means (ads, liners, ..., manual entries, ...) since the only way to keep track of the playlist being played would be the number of items it has and countdown until that number of songs have played.

If the playlists are manually added a written note stuck on the monitor can help.
If the playlists are automatically scheduled a matrix of the Event Scheduler can provide a quick visual lookup for what SAM is doing; I believe there is a calendar mod (by DJ Cassio?) in PHP that lists the ES actions.

FWIW sensible segues and rhythmic transitions can be done via auto DJ and clockwheels; takes a little effort to train/tune the categories and the songs but in the long run it can be quite powerful; whereas a playlist is a static list, the auto dj does not have that constrain.

i'd like them to put festers brain into SAM so that whenever you need to know something, from PAL/Programming, to random facts and humerous quips, he has the answer/solution right away, and it works better than you expected to.

I'm using current version of SAM Broadcaster with my interface. As a 18 year veteran radio personality and also a computer programmer , I used many many broadcaster and schedule software but now I use my own SAM Skin.

My SAM skin is very useful for a radio personality.
You can preview the song and make cue start and end points with one mouse click!, Changing Category, Add CLocks, tracks and hours etc. In the future I will add some other useful options like No Nights No Mornings, No Weekends and Yesterday Same Hour Rules.

I use SAM only as a live assist and as you can see in the pictures I use SAM like a Selector and RCS :)

I see that discussions on a potential SAM 5 is in the making.

I want to know is, is SAM 5 really being developed or is this just a speculation? I would like to see some hard evidence / confirmation that SAM 5 is being developed by Spacialaudio.

I have noticed that this discussion about SAM 5 has been going over 2 years now. So where is SAM 5??

2 years to develop an application???? 18 months tops surely!?
