I know this isn't part of the software yet, but I've recently been asked this question by 3 different people from Germany who fear their english is too bad to request the feature here or at the spacial helpdesk.

Basically the title says it all.
What I'd really like to see would be support for relaying an encrypted Icecast2 stream (Shoutcast doesn't have SSL support, at least not in v1).
Also calling HTTPS resources from PAL would be great.

But also connecting an encoder to a server using an encrypted connection would be great, especially because you otherwise leak your stream password to everyone in the same wifi for example.

Can I just add my support.

A recent unwelcome discovery is that we can’t embed a non-ssl player on our https site. Nor will a pop-up player work. (And nor should it, really).

The ability to relay an encrypted Icecast2 stream would at least allow us to play our own station on our site!

You could still embed a player that's served via SSL (the JS or Adobe Flash or Silverlight code that is) while streaming a non-SSL resource.

You cannot embed a non-ssl player into a https site by design of the https protocol. This is a security thing, and the restriction enforced by all browsers.

You can edit the website files and hard code the https into the address of the player code as needed though.
