This message "Start your internet radio now!" that comes up with the Sam radio player, does not sit well with our audience, yet we would like to have a player pop up and not on our website. Does anyone have any ideas of where online we could find such a player?

Just use one of the "embeddable" Players and put it on a standalone HTML document and make that open in a popup window. (Javascipt: window.open are the keywords for learning how to do that)
