Thats odd. I have version 5 Community and it works great.

With Firebird, you'll basically be on your own with DB issues. You just don't find many people using it anymore. It'll work, but the larger your library grows, the more issues I've seen come up.
Your best bet is still to get MySQL to work, if at all possible. If not, use Firebird which comes w/ SAM. We'll assist anywhere we can.

I was looking at this thread with interest, because I am using Windows XP. I currently use firebird, it's been installed that way since about three to four years ago when I first installed SAM. But honestly with a library of 15,000 tracks, firebird really does SUCK!. I've noticed my songs still repeat often, still after many clockwheel variations, and now I feel that the culprit is firebird. I'm wanting to move to MySQL, but now that I've seen this thread, I'm not sure whether it is worth the trouble. Anyway, I've bookmarked this page for when the occasion comes for me trying it out. This site has all the various versions of MySQL at, check it out for what it's worth. ... ty-server/

Andrew, may I ask (quite sure it's here somewhere) are you using Win XP with MySQL? or has this guy just strucked bad luck?
