I did need it - only I needed to monitor the Broadcast Cloud - not my end, however, on occasion I do need to monitor my end too. Here's a couple of really good monitor programs - free too, that I found

MediaMon:
http://www.2ngradio.com/index.php/compo ... 1-mediamon

and the little one I like best .. It sends you email, sounds alarms, can even be connected to a serial port to control you house....

Pira CZ Silence Detector
http://www.pira.cz/show.asp?art=silence

Don't suffer unexpected outages ...

To monitor SHOUTcast and ICEcast streams try this URL:
http://www.streamverify.com

Will send you a SMS text and / or e-mail if your stream goes down or if silence (dead air) is detected.

Nice service - however the mediaMon software does that for free. Appears to be much the same thing.

However - what I want is something that will monitor the SAM Broadcast Cloud stream.

So? You can tune in with any major player, and these services probably do the very same for their silence detection.
Just use the direct streaming URL you find in the control panel at spacial.com

Most of the ones I have come across need you to also input the server, server type, and port as well as the url that the stream is playing on. mediaMon will set up their program for you to do that, but don't have it built in as an option.
All others I have tried do not accept just the play stream url.

Hmm and if you tell it's an Icecast server on port 80 (HTTP)?
If it tries to access the typical stats or admin endpoints, you're lost, but if all it does is really just stream monitoring that should work.
