Hi everybody,

I wonder if this official documentation is always reliable or not:

https://support.spacial.com/hc/en-us/ar ... with-MySQL

If No, I wonder if SAM is officially supporting newer versions of MYSQL at 64bit.
Does anyone have experiences or suggestions to give me?

I am preparing the new server with SAM and I would like to choose the best and most reliable versions of the MySQL DB before proceeding with the setup.

Thankyou

I recently freshly re-installed SAM with MariaDB (most recent stable version), then install HeidiSQL.

It is rock solid and very fast. I have a post about changing a php file in the reporting config to get it to work, let me know if you can't find it and i'll send you a link or the code block.

I suggest installing MariaDB first, and create a database before installing SAM, just make sure you connect SAM to the database with the root account, or backup won't work. Usually i would say not to use root, but since it's the only service i have using the DB, it's fine.

Hope this helps.

MariaDB is only officially supported in very recent versions of SAM.
Most people tend to hold onto their license and not purchase upgrades regularly.

As far as I know, that's only concerning the most recent version of MariaDB compatible with MySQL 8, though.
Older MariaDB versinos will work just fine as drop-in-replacements for their respective MySQL counterpart.

MySQL <= 5.7 and MariaDB <= 10.2 should be compatible with SAM 2013+
