I add new tracks to SAM, the total tracks in Selected Category goes up by the number of tracks I added. Previously, the new tracks played right away. But SAM is not playing the new tracks on its own. I can manually queue up the new tracks, and they show up fine on playing.html, but don't show on playlistA.html, even though it's time-stamped current on the SAM machine. After manually queuing, I don't know if they are in rotation.

I'm running 4.9.8 on Vista.

Your playlist files not properly updating on your website is a problem that's unrelated to updating your categories and one we're already discussing in another thread.
If your rotation rules aren't picking up the tracks, but they show up in the ctagory list, your problem isn't a technical one, but a logical one. I.e.: smRandom selection method isntead of smLRP (smRandom is Random, Random is not predictable, Random is not play an equal distribution of tracks, Random is not play the newest tracks first/most)
smLRP seems like the most logical choice if you want new tracks to play first/the most, because those tracks should have the fewest playcounts unless you have a huge backlog of unplayed tracks

It was always smLRP, before and after I moved the SAM machine.

Quite honestly, you seem to be having so many issues, you should contract with someone to log on to your computer and get you issues resolved, back and forth with all these issues in a forum setting gets very tedious. I am not volunteering, I don't remote support, just suggesting it since you have been at this issue and the request issue for a while now.
