SAM General
From SpacialAudio
These are the general options found in SAM Broadcaster's configuration window.
Basic Configuration
HTTP Handler port: This is the port SAM will accept requests on and do various other operations. Make sure no other application is using the same port. This port is normally 1221.
Local picture directory: This is the directory SAM stores all the album pictures for each song in the media library.
- Note: Even when a picture is located directly in the song information tag (ID3v2 tag for MP3 or WMF Header for Windows Media), SAM3 will store the actual picture file in this local directory for faster access and easier management.
Website picture location: The URL to the picture directory located on your webserver.
- Note: Remember to put http:// in front of the URL.
Amazon.com track information finder:
- Associate ID - if you joined the Amazon associate program you can receive a commission on each sale you refer to Amazon! Just enter your Associate ID in here and SAM3 will automate the rest for you...
- Image size - Amazon has 3 image sizes. Please select the image size the album picture finder should use. We recommend using the medium size.
Virtual DJ Options:
- Auto DJ (recommended mode) will automatically queue the next song in the available deck and crossfade to it at the correct time. The Virtual DJ will continue doing this even if the Queue is empty, so playback will never end.
- Play until queue is empty (Also known as Play Queue mode ) will automatically queue the next song in the available deck and crossfade to it at the correct time. The virtual DJ will continue to do this until the last song in the Queue has been played and then stops.
- Manual DJ mode relies on the user to queue the next song and start playing it at the correct time. With this mode, the user has to handle of ALL aspects of playlist rotation and play.
Auto error recovery:
SAM's Auto error recovery feature will ensure SAM is always playing and functioning correctly. When the decks are stopped (either manually or for some other reason), auto error recovery will try to recover from this error and start a deck automatically. This feature is very helpful if you have SAM set to load when windows starts. In this way, playback will automatically start.
- Enable Auto error recovery: When checked, Auto error recovery will be enabled and make the rest of the recovery options visible.
- Max player idle time [xx] seconds: This value specifies how long both Decks A & B will be idle before Auto recovery will start.
- User response time [xx] seconds: - As soon as Auto recovery starts, it will display a user dialog that will allow you to either cancel recovery or apply recovery immediately. This value specifies how long you have to either cancel or apply recovery before auto-recovery begins.
- Note: Auto recovery is disabled if the Virtual DJ is set to Manual DJ mode.
- Note: Once you click Cancel on the Auto recovery window, auto recovery will be disabled until you start the decks manually.
- Note: Also note that (Max player idle time + User response time) = Time it takes before decks are actually started. So make sure this total value is less than the time idle decks will start causing problems. For example, if the decks are idle too long any of the following can happen:
- Encoders can be disconnected by the server because they haven't sent any data in the last few seconds (Most MP3 servers have a 30 second timeout)
- Viewers may disconnect from your stream since they only hear "silence" and think there is a problem.
