After creating a new advertiser you will be directed to the Campaign management screen for that advertiser.

You can also access the campaign management screen for each advertiser by clicking on the Campaigns link next to each advertiser from the Advertiser management screen.

To create a new campaign, click on the Add new campaign link located directly above the Campaign list.

On the next screen complete the campaign information fields.

  1. Campaign Details
    • Description - Enter a description for the campaign.
    • Date start - The date on which the campaign will start.
    • Date end - The date on which the campaign will be stopped.
    • Target Style - Whether this is a broadcast or 1-to-1 targeted campaign. A broadcast campaign will serve its advertisements to all the current listeners of your station, while a 1-to-1 targeting will serve advertisements to listeners on an individual basis. Information such as geographic location, age, gender, language, race, income and education can be used to target 1-to-1 campaigns to applicable listeners.
    • Status - The status of the campaign. You should usually leave this at the default, which is Active.
    • Budget - You can optionally supply a budget for the campaign.
    • Use entire campaign as single entry in Traffic log scheduling - When using the Traffic log rotation method, instead of scheduling individual spots for the traffic log from a campaign, checking this option will allow you to schedule the whole campaign to the Traffic log. StreamAds will then automatically pick spots from the campaign to place into the Traffic log.
  2. Default Values - These are not directly applicable to the campaign itself, but more on the advertisements scheduled in the campaign. Setting default values here will speed up the creation of advertisements as they will already contain these default values.
    • Paid - Indicates whether a station receives payment for running advertisements from this campaign.
    • Priority - You may wish to give some advertisements priority over other advertisements. Setting the rotation priority can ensure that StreamAds puts a higher preference towards rotating those particular advertisements.
      Note: The Backup only priority is a very special priority. Backup advertisements are only played when StreamAds is unable to find any valid advertisements to use. Thus always set your Filler content, Music beds, Station IDs, Jingles and even barter/PSAs/unpaid advertisements on Backup only priority.
    • Spread advertisements evenly over entire date range. - A common problem on large stations with a lot of unsold inventory is that they could deliver a single campaign within days or even hours. Most advertisers however prefer that their campaign is spread evenly over the entire specified date range, thus providing a more consistent advertising frequency. Checking this box will make StreamAds pace the delivery of the campaign so it is spread as evenly as possible over the entire date range.
    • Separation category - It is usually considered bad advertising practice to play two competing advertisers' back-to-back, or even to play them within the same advertisement break period. The separation category helps avoid playing advertisers that operate within the same industry in this manner. By specifying the category under which the advertiser falls, the station software can automatically avoid this situation.
  3. Global Campaign Limits - This section allows you to set impression limits on a campaign level. Limits are set for each type of advertisement within the campaign. All advertisements of a certain type within the campaign will stop being served once the number of impressions for that type exceed the maximum value set for the type in this section.

Once you have completed all the fields for the new campaign, click on the Submit button to store the campaign. You will be automatically redirected to the Campaign targeting screen for the newly created campaign.

Editing an existing campaign

If you are not already viewing the list of campaigns for an advertiser, click on the Campaigns link next to the advertiser from the Advertiser management screen.

Once you can see the list of Campaigns for a particular advertiser, click on the Edit link next to the campaign in order to change any details for the campaign.

Once you press the Submit button your changes will be stored and you will be redirected to the Campaign management screen for the advertiser.

Setting the campaign targeting options

Each campaign can be targeted to one or more stations. It is very important to target campaigns to particular stations within the network. The default for any new campaign is to be delivered to ALL stations within your network. So if you do not make sure to target your campaign, you might find some stations within your network delivering your campaign.

StreamAds also allows you to set up other types of targeting - but visit the Campaign targeting page for more details.

Once you created a new campaign, you will automatically be directed to the Campaign targeting screen.

If you wish to edit the targeting for an existing Campaign, simply click on the Targeting link next to the campaign.

Viewing and Editing the campaign advertisements

Advertisements belong to a campaign and is managed under the umbrella of a campaign. To view and manage advertisements for a particular campaign, click on the Adz link next to the campaign.

This will bring up the Campaign advertisements screen.

Deactivating a campaign

StreamAds does not delete campaigns, but you can deactivate old campaigns. This tells StreamAds it is OK to eventually archive this campaign and remove all the advertisements from the mirror servers. The content will be archived, but may not be available instantly for preview anymore.

Please help us keep StreamAds clean & tidy by deactivating campaigns you no longer need or use.

Note: Campaigns that expired 6 months or longer ago may be automatically deactivated and archived by StreamAds.

Deactivating a campaign is very simple. Just click on the Deactivate link next to the campaign. You will be asked to confirm this action.

Also note that unlike the Advertiser management screen, deactivated campaigns are not hidden from the campaign list. Instead, you will be able to see the status of the campaign within the list.

Activating a campaign

A previously deactivated campaign may be activated again, provided it is done before the campaign is archived. Archived campaigns can not be re-activated.

We do not recommend ever reactiving a campaign, unless you deactivated them by mistake. It is usually better just to recreate the campaign in all other cases.

If you re-activated any campaign, please also double-check the settings for all advertisements under the campaign. Make sure they have an active status, otherwise they will not rotate.

To re-activate a campaign, click on the Activate link next to the campaign. If this link is no longer visible it means the campaign has already been archived and may not be re-activated.
