Overview

The Station Geographic report can provide a station with a good overview of where the station's listeners are located in the world.

Note: Since StreamAds does not do any detailed log parsing of streaming servers, the only way it can generate a view of a station's audience geographic location is by Gateway advertisements and Banner/Text advertisements. That is why the in-stream column for most stations will remain empty.

Also note that there is a margin of error in geographic estimation of listener location. StreamAds is very accurate in detecting the country of a listener, but the error margin increases as one gets to state/region level and the margin is even bigger on city level. That being said, the geographic report can be vital in your presentation to potential advertisers.

Generating Station Geographic Report

  • Station
    In the Station field you can enter the username of one or multiple stations. Click on the Search icon next to the Station field title to look up station names.
  • Countries
    It is sometimes useful to limit the report to only certain countries. To do this, enter the country codes into the Countries edit field, or click on the Search icon next to the Countries field title to look up country codes.
    Country codes are specified as 2 character codes, for example the USA is US.
  • Select month
    Geographic statistics are kept on a monthly basis. Select the month for which you wish to view the data.
  • Select number of cities to display
    The number of cities to include into the report. Only about the top 10 or top 50 cities are usually significant enough to look at.
  • Order by
    Allows you to sort the results according to your preferred criteria.

Actions

  • View - display the results on the screen.
  • Print - display the results in a printer-friendly format.
  • Download - download the results in a comma-delimited file format (*.csv)
