If you enable Facebook at the top, you should see separate download options for facebook and twitter.

I'll go check that as soon as I get home tonight. Don't know what might be broken there, but if this isn't just a case of PEBKAC I'm sure it will be an easy fix.

Seems to work just fine on my end.
Don't let yourself be tricked by the Header of the file. Apparently I didn't put a template variable there, but made that static.
It will always say "* SAM Broadcaster Web2.0 Connector (twitter)" regardless of wether you download the Twitter/Facebook/Instagram or LinkedIn PAL

Hey everyone,

for all that didn't see the post on facebook or in the Google Group:
We're working on the website once again and this time we're looking at the dashboard.
Originally I tried to pack every possible customization into that dashboard, but now I think it might be a bit full and overwhelming especially to new users.
We'll try to keep all the functionality alive, but we're currently thinking about at least hiding the custom settings per profile in a different/advanced section of the page.
This has been the cause of much confusion in the support requests.

We'd like to know if you/your station is making use of the custom display per profile (i.e. make twitter posts very limited, only showing artists and title, but show buy links and cover art on facebook in addition using the same PAL script and account)

Would be great if you took part in this poll on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/songposter/pos ... 9932073636
If you have more feedback than just "we're using the full customization" or "no need for different customization per network", use whatever channel you like. (This post is fine, Facebook is fine, but you can also just use the support email or ticket system if you don't want to make your feedback public)

Important notice for all users still posting to Facebook personal profiles:
Starting on July 26th, Facebook will no longer allow posting content to personal profiles using third party applications.

You can still send your song info to your Fanpage or to a group that you are admin of, though.
Only personal profiles are off-limits.

The reasons for this change in the Facebook API are unknown as this wasn't publicly anounced (or at least I couldn't find any announcement).
It could either be just another SPAM countermeasure, but another likely reason might be that it has to do with the previously announced focus on user-generated content and the separation of personal friends from businesses and organizations.

Whatever the reason may be, if you're still using a personal profile to post your track lists, now is the time to switch to a Facebook Fanpage or a Facebook Group.

I'm sorry for the short notice, but I only accidentally stumbled upon this very hidden announcement in the Buffer Dashboard today.
They didn't send out an email (at least not to me) or posted anything about it on their social media accounts.

More info from Buffer.com: https://faq.buffer.com/article/985-publ ... pi-changes
And here's info from Facebook regarding when you should create a facebook page / what content is ok for personal profiles and fanpages:

Yeah, as long as Facebook still keeps that around you should be safe as that is a native Facebook function.

Correct. And with that in mind, maybe Facebook will be looking into purchasing Twitter soon too l

Sorry, but no.
I'm working on bringing it back, though.
I tried to get things up on a new infrastructure over the last few evenings, but have failed so far.
I'm on a good route to get things back up, but this is taking too much time for an evening session.
I'll probably need the whole saturday to fix this.

SongPoster and SAM-Song.info are both back up as of yesterday night.

Note: sam-song.info is working as expected, but actually reports an error regardless of whether or not the post was made. I'll look into that on Thursday night.

Dear users of the limited access SongPoster service,

with deep regret I have to inform you that songposter.net will stop working on 2020-09-08 due to our service provider shutting down their public APIs.

You can continue posting to twitter using sam-song.info.

There's currently no known alternatives for getting automated posts onto the Facebook or Instagram platforms due to their platform policies explicitly prohibiting such access to their API. Apparently the few tools that still retained such access from earlier times are now being pressured to at least providing that same service to others. At least that's one reason stated in the notice from buffer.com we received today.

We'll look into at least keeping the twitter access on the new platform so that users on systems like RadioDJ can keep the easy access via the Plugin.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment down below. We'll try to answer to the best of our knowledge and within 2 days whenever possible.

Kind regards,
Benedikt Bauer
Founder sam-song.info / songposter.net

And here are the shady details for those interested in knowing more about what happened:

The service mentioned in the last post and the announcements on Facebook and Twitter is called Buffer. You might've heard of them for the first time when you had to use them as a proxy to sign your facebook and/or twitter accounts up for the songposter.net service.
If you're an avid social media user or handle the social media presence for a medium-to-large business, you might also know them for their post scheduling and cross-platform-posting tools that allow you writing only one post and publishing it at a specified time to all your accounts.
Basically that's what we abused with the songposter.net service ever since we got banned from facebook ourselves for posting too much content that was flagged as Spam. Buffer could apparently keep using the publishing APIs of Facebook that were later discontinued for everyone without special permission from Facebook because they placed themselves as a viable brand-management tool in the early days and have high-stakes customers using their service.

They also offered to use their service from any third party application by signing up for their API, pretty much without any checks and balances. You could pretty much post all you like and however much you like and benefit from their size and scale without getting the whole app banned.

Since Facebook is currently reshaping their platform once again and is trying to keep harmful and spammy content out even more, I presume they had a chat with the people at Buffer and told them to stop the public API.
For the last year or so they didn't accept any new applications for their API and stopped development of new features. That wasn't a big deal to us since we only ever used the most basic functionality of publishing content to Social media immediately when the request arrived at our app.

Now my biggest fear comes true: They will discontinue the API on short notice in less than 2 weeks from today.
This basically means we have to shut down the songposter.net app as that is built solely on the Buffer API and was never intended to use the native platform APIs in the first place.
But even if we wanted to rebuild it and work directly with the platforms, that would only get us access to Twitter.
Facebook has shut down the APIs with write access to the platform 5 or 6 years ago and now only allows apps with a legitimate interest to publish stuff.
Obviously granting other people access to automatically publish song titles en masse does not fall into that category.

I started looking around for other services like Buffer that might be willing to share their unrestricted access to Facebook with third partys, but the only one that even has an API is called hootsuite and they're only interested in big business enterprise solutions. You need to get approved to use their API.
I'd be willing to try and see if the idea of an auto-publishing tracklist bot is a great idea in their opinion, but I have my doubts.
Also this only makes sense if there are a bunch of people even willing to spend 25 EUR/month as that is the most basic account all my users would need to use their service and in turn our app. Strange enough, there's not a single app in their catalogue that makes use of the social media scheduling API. They all seem to focus on the analytics part or moving stuff from Hootsuite over to Customer service/helpdesk applications or business metrics stuff.

If anyone has heard of alternative ways to publish to Facebook, please let me know, but the way things are right now it's more than likely that Hootsuite and others will also have to discontinue their publishing APIs for Facebook.

Does sam-song.info post covert art to Twitter?

sam-song.info posts your text "as is".

If you include the artwork URL in your message, it will post that, but it will not upload artwork to twitter separately.

I'll be working on migrating songposter.net to direct Twitter communication over the next week if all things go well.
