Hey there. Does SAM DJ support databases other than FireBird? I've been trying to connect it to a MARIADB database but it tells me that MARIADB is not a valid database, however, with SAM Broadcaster I never had any issues. Also, I wasn't given an option to choose database details, as in username, password etc even after reconfiguring SAM. I'll use SAM DJ on my main computer to play music during the Christmas and other holidays when I'll have guests. All Spacial software is up to date, 2021.5 for both SAMBC and the SAMDJ software, the Black Friday deals saved my life.

Hello, back here with a response. So I contacted Spacial support and they told me that SAM DJ only supports Firebird. Now everything makes sense. I guess, since SAM DJ is more designed for the people playing music at parties, birthday celebrations et cetera it was meant to be as easy to setup as possible, and the Firebird installer that comes with SAM makes everything so easy. Hopefully one day, support for other databases will be added as well, although I guess that Firebird can serve me well in this case.

If you're already using SAM Broadcaster, can't you just use that for your Party DJ purposes as well?

No, because both SAM instances are running on 2 separate VPS'es, 1 in America and 1 in Europe, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is the reason why I also bought SAM DJ, as I don't plan to use this to stream.

It would be nice to be able to switch to a new database as Firebird really isn't great.
