Well, it's close. I usually have to pot down a little. Also there is a volume control on the cellphone too so you'll never get a perfect mix if that puppy is potted up or down, but yes it's possible.

One advantage of that, is that the local volume is being adjusted to be listenable, and this means that same listenable volume is converted to be sent over the phone (or whatever).

I tried capturing the headset out of a phone I have here, and pumping it into line in of a pair of powered speakers... no sound whatsoever. When I ran it into a mike level input, it sounded fine.

Having the same wants and lack of big funds, heres what i wound up doing, i was in the rat shack and saw a wireless phone recording controller on sale, cat #17-855 on clearance for around 4.00. The jack was the same size as my headset jack on my ATT 4 line phone, so figure 4.00, not a big loss. I am using a basic RS ssm 1850 board, ( yea i know) , anyway followed the instructions, put the unit in the headset jack, heatset into unit, and then the fun part was a mono to stereo adapter, 1/8 mono to rca male adapter, used a dual rca phono single female to twin male adapter, placed into a line jack on the board, this works perfect. when your on the phone, both sides come over clear and audiable. the headset mic becomes the boards mic. it takes a little getting use to, but it does work very well, something to think about.

What I have found to be a great telephone hybrid for cheap. Use the MagicJack with a USB connected Mix board. The levels are auto and with the USB mixer like the ones we use (Oxygen Airmate 24 channel USB connectable On Air Console) the levels come across perfect.

ok its been over a month now, can someone weigh in on how to do this with a magicjack phone? i just bought virtual audio cable, and i have sam3 broadcaster and no more money. trying to get my part 15 FM station off the ground here.

My guess is that you would do it as you would with an actual phone. To the best of my knowledge there is no means to grab audio before it goes thru the magic jack.

I've been using the Magicjack, and it works like a dream for me. One other great thing about the magic jack is that you get a conference room with it, so that you can have people call in and join a coversation, and either air it live or record it for later.
Being in radio all of these years I've learned to record my calls, then air them. I dont have a delay button, so its much safer.

Please share with us how you use MagicJack to record conversations and do those things. I love that idea a lot. Though, I'd still patch it into my microphone and do it on an Aux channel, I'm old fashioned.

I just use it as a program on my pc. I use the sound card to record with. I run my mic and headphones through a Line 6 which is usb, but I'm sure you can use what ever you have for mic and listening to record.

Ahh, so you don't need the MagicJack dongle to use MagicJack then? You can still use it in a VOIP fashion without plugging in an extra dongle?

While on a quest to find out how to turn off Call Waiting (you can't), I read in another forum (name escapes me) that the MagicJack people frown upon using their device / software with other services. One of the posters claimed that if you were an MJ customer not doing it "their way" they would cut your service which is to say pull your phone number.

Don't know for sure, just sayin'.

Seems it would be easier to get a VOIP provider that allows that. http://EarthboundTelecom.com looks really nice, I am looking to switch from Vonage to another provider and they seem to be on the ball with VOIP solutions. Plus they have real 24/7 support. I called and I got to chat with the founder, he is a very nice guy.
