Hi, new to spatial, but I was wondering what is the best way to create an app or buy an app. Is it a simple connect sam broadcaster to an app to have my station available on an app? I am new to all of this.

If you are looking for an app for your listeners, aside from what Mastacheata has already said, you can go through Nobex. It's totally free at the start - they build an app for you (both Android and iOS), and publish it on both the Google Play and Apple stores.

The app they create for you is pretty decent - you can customize it to include social media feeds, etc., and it only plays one advertisement when it starts up. Be forewarned, though - if you don't get at least 100 people to download your app within a certain time period (60 days, I think - but I could be wrong) you might have to sign up for a Small Station plan, which costs $5/month to keep your app listed in the stores.

If you want to see what they look like, search for ours - go to your app store (Google Play or Apple) and search for "Unhinged Radio".

We are a Shoutcast station, so I know they support that. I am not 100% sure of what other platforms are supported.

We built an app using Expo, which is great because you don't need a mac to develop both platforms, the only downside is that for now, they don't support the media screen (lock screen media view). We ended up using React Native with react-native-track-player and it works great!

Hope this helps with your decision making process. A developer should be able to build this for you for cheap if all you want it a SPA with the song info and such.
paying a one time fee and a yearly maintenance fee is probably cheaper than a template or places like nobex in the long run. Also, you get a dedicated professional to give you exactly what YOU want, not settle for what the template companies force you to use.

It depends,
A developer worth his salt may have a minimum charge of $1-3000. Plus the membership charges for the app stores.

Any seasoned developer should be able to build the app within a week if all you want is song info, a little longer if you want request functionality. The developers understanding of SAM will be important to how quickly they are able to wrap their heads around HOW to best tackle the project.
