Hi

I'm convincing the owner of the radio to update SAM from 4.x.x (I don't recall the exact version) to SAM 2018-2019 ... I mean whiel i'm writing; is the last version of SAM.

I argued that has many pros as, more updated encoders, HTTPS (finally!!!!) etc.

But he's worried that it will not be possible to isntall SAM on 2 machines (2 PCs) due licencing issues.
The second installation, it's really needed because the second PC is a clone of the main one and it's used as sandbox.

I'm wondering if it's possible to buy SAM2018-2019 (there is also a special discount in these days) and install it on 2 machines, so that:
- the main > for broadcasting
- the second > as sandbox to test configurations, solve issues, test new PAL Scripts

thanks a million

#1 You can (and could always - or at least as long as I can remember aka SAM 2) install SAM on 2 machines at the same time.
#2 There are no built-in technical restrictions on how you can use that second installation of SAM
#3 The license terms allow you to use your second installation for exactly the purposes you mentioned in your post and as a "backup"

Excellent.

PCs are with 2 differenùt architectures:

Emission: I3 quad core 8GB RAM
Backup & Sandbox: Pentium 2GB RAM

can the last version run on these?

P.S. I asked many many times yesterday the demo version to try it, but not any email with link was sent by SpacialAudio hence my question here

Download links: (This points to SAM 2019, if you scroll up you can find links for 2018, 2017 etc. as well)

What are the system requirements for SAM Broadcaster PRO? (!empty($user->lang['WROTE'])) ? $user->lang['WROTE'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', 'WROTE'))):
  • Operating system: Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
  • CPU: 1 GHz
  • Memory: 1 GB
  • Disk space: 100 MB
  • Sound card: Optional

Pentium can mean anything from Pentium 1 66MHz to Pentium D multicore 64-bit CPUs.
Multicore CPUs built in the last 10 years should be fine for SAM. I would not recommend a single core CPU or 32bit CPU anymore.

excellent (I can't tell you now wich pentium is, because I"m not at that PC. I can be more precise this evening. I do remember is 2GHz).

I convinced him for the purchase. However, I'm worried for the email.
I mean: ysterday evening I sent up 3 requests for the demo.

2 email addresses on my provider, 1 on gmail.
I didn't get any email from SpacialAudio

Now: what if I pay to get the program, and no email is received and/or sent? :-/

This let me quite in but

I guess if it's newer then say 7 or 8 years it should be fine.
SAM is not that needy, but it obviously benefits from a multi-core CPU for multi-tasking

.

Spacial usually responds within 48h during the week.
Sales are handled through an external service provider Cleverbridge and should be completely automated.

Should you run into problems nonetheless, just post here and we'll try to get someone from Spacial to look at things. (We = SVS Team, we're not Spacial employees, but we might know different contact details for people in the company's management and can usually find someone to help or understand problems better if the usual support channels fail to)

Excellent

Purchased it
I did install it on the Pentium and it works. Now I have to activate it.

This night I will install on the official server and I will activate it.

P.S. about the userzone of SpacialAudio

- with Chrome I get white page (no way out to clean cache etc)

Works fine for me in bothe Chrome and Firefox.
Just be aware that the Spacial Servers are sometimes slow as shit. (i.e.: Sometimes it takes more than 40 seconds to load a forum post)
Maybe try accessing the site during usual US work hours, when less people are trying to access the site. (At least I think that most online radios are hobby projects done after work and Spacial's main market is definitely the US)

I was waiting for more than 1/2 hour, then I connected with FF. No clue why I got this issue with Chrome.

P.S. I postoponed for the WE the migration via Team Viewer, on the live server.
On the backup computer: everything worked fine yesterday.
The radio's owner is also very happy for the results of the tests of yesterday night.

I'm wondering if there will be any issue during the activation (Config > Activation) also on the Live server. Hopefully not.
