Recently our computer running SAM software broke down and needed to be replaced. In an effort to get our college radio station back on the air quickly, we removed the hard drives and put them into another system. Reinstalled all the drivers for the hardware and everything seems to be running correctly, with the exception of the error that occurs in the SAM software. Please see the picture that is attached to see the error that we are having with ShoutCast server which initially starts as “Active” but when attempting to play a song then switches to “Inactive” (No encoder connected to the server).

Please help!

The overall storage quota of this forum is mostly exceeded, so large image uploads aren't gonna work anymore. If the image would reveal any information not present in your text, please upload it elsewhere and just link it here. (Imgur, Imageshack and a whole bunch of others might work for that)

Does the Event Log contain any more useful error messages? What does the server log say about the incident (if anything at all)?
Just random disconnect isn't going to help narrowing down the problem enough to actually diagnose it I guess.

Thank you for your time, Benedikt. We've decided to move towards the latest version of SAM so we can get support from the company directly, so feel free to disregard.

Glad you've find a solution. I am a technician at Whatcom Community College and now responsible for the student radio station with SAM software set up but I've noticed it being too slow not sure whether putting hard drives on another system will help...

SAM by itself usually doesn't take up much resources. However running SAM on a modern machine usually requires you to upgrade from 4.9.x to the 201x series. At 300 USD that's not cheap, but compared to what a teacher/IT-personnel costs per hour, especially when you have to rebuild your entire school IT infrastructure due to an unsecured Win7/WinXp box being hacked, that should be well worth the money.
