I'm running SAM PRO 2020.8 on a Quad-Core i7 PC under Windows 10.0.19041, the sound card is a Realtek High Definition, database is Firebird.

After a Windows 10 update, the usual bits were flipped and I reset all the Config - Audio Pipeline - Air Out settings. This time, however, while the Decks play and show levels in their VU meters, the Encoders output VU meter shows no activity. There is no Air Output going out to my server, thus dead air. The song titles are announced, but no audio accompanies them. The 2020.8 version is a new install, but this problem began with my old 2016 version - yes, I disabled the old version's Key. I have tried every combination of sound sources, rebooting, unplugging my headset and resetting to defaults. No joy.

Any insights out there for this problem?

Check your encoder if you accidentally switched from DSP (blue button labeled DSP) to record from soundcard (red circle button, like the typical record button)

Unless you know what you do and change this setting intentionally, it's best to stick with the DSP / record from pipeline setting.

Record from soundcard lets you specify a recording device where the encoder will only broadcast whatever signal is coming in via that device/input. It's usually used when you play your audio from an external device or route the audio output of your computer through a mixing deck first. You should only use that setting if you know what you're doing as it could otherwise lead to you recording an unconnected input (think: the empty line in jack with no device connected on your soundcard) and broadcast dead air.

What I ended up doing was uninstalling all my old versions and reinstalling a fresh download of the SAM 2018 version and Firebird database.
This worked. There must have been some hidden bits flipped somewhere, and a fresh install never hurts - except for having to reconstruct my Saturday show from memory. Heh.
